A group of Herndon High students will represent the Commonwealth of Virginia in the Virtual Enterprise National Competition in New York City, according to a Herndon Patch news article published last January 13, 2014. The group was selected from the top 6 teams in the state after rigorous development and defense of their business plans.
The students in Mrs. Kathy Thomas' class spent their fall semester in creating virtual company V-LO Chip, Inc. (Virtual Locating Chip), and took on different roles in the business. They designed a tracking device that can be attached to an item or piece of equipment:
Thomas attributes the success of her classes to the hard work of her students and the guidance they receive from leaders in the community who have expertise in the area of the type of company the students create.
“From entrepreneurs, business owners, scientists, engineers and a CPA, their professionalism has proved invaluable to the development of the business plan and the education of the students,” said Richard D. Stacy, an adjunct professor at the Metropolitan School of Professional Studies in D.C., who acted as coach to this year's class.
Herndon prides itself as a part of the Dulles Technology Corridor, a business cluster which includes communications and technology companies, education and learning organizations, and foreign corporations. With well-educated and highly trained workforce, the town continues to attract a dynamic group of businesses and to organize itself as an innovation hub.
It's easy to see that these various companies see the potential of the town's young, brilliant minds in moving their businesses forward. Recently, Acuity Systems LLC, Construction Consultants Inc., and Artemis Global Logistics and Solutions signed leases in downtown Herndon.
As more and more companies are pursuing a convenient office space in Herndon, VA, Professor Richard D. Stacy is thrilled about the promising future of the town's youth:
"As a business owner and college professor, I believe it is important to let members of the community know that students are learning and effectively using real-world business skills," Stacy said. "At the end of last year’s competition, one of the judges indicated he was ready to provide assistance to bring the virtual business to reality."
In addition to its intelligent people, Herndon is a business-friendly town with reasonable, highly accessible office, industrial, and retail locations. It has a competitive tax structure which makes up for a great business climate, and a stable, responsive government.
Business players looking for a modern and suitable Herndon office space should contact reputable companies like Metro Offices which can provide them innovative workplace solutions. These companies can support them in finding the perfect workstations while considering price, flexibility, and technology.
