This week, the Washington Business Journal published its annual list of the top women-owned businesses in the Metro area. Metro Offices is very pleased to announce our company was ranked #16 on the list. Additionally, Metro Offices ranked #9 for the woman-owned company that has been operating the longest in the area.
The 25 local, women-owned businesses included on the Journal’s list were ranked according to amount of revenue generated in 2012. Additional information associated with the rankings included the percentage of the company owned by women; the number of employees in the Metro area and company-wide; industry niche and senior local executive.
Founded in 1989 in Reston, Va., by CEO Kathlene Buchanan, Metro Offices employs 41 staff members in nine locations throughout DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. Revenue for 2012 was estimated at $15 million. Metro Offices tied with The Midtown Group and CGH Technologies Inc. at #9 on the rankings for woman-owned company that has been around the longest in the Metro area.
“We are honored to again be recognized by the Washington Business Journal,” states Kathlene. She attributes the ongoing success of her company to old-fashioned teamwork. “I believe our success has been based on the team concept. There are no ivory towers at this place, and no one is off-limits. We all do the work.”
