Congratulations to Metro Offices’ Kathlene Buchanan, who was recently awarded the Smart CEO’s Brava! Award.
The Brava! program honors women CEOs in the DC area who successfully combine their entrepreneurial spirit with a commitment to giving back to the community. The awards, presented annually to 25 women executives of local companies that generate at least $1 million in revenue, were handed out at a sold-out ceremony in Washington.
“I’m very honored to receive this award,” writes Kathlene. “Over the past 24 years, I’ve learned a great deal about building a successful business. But I’ve also learned that it’s important as a business leader to give back to the community through financial means and through the mentorship of others who seek guidance. Because we are a woman-owned company, I have a special incentive to guide other women who are building their dreams. It doesn’t just feel good personally, it makes business sense and it mirrors the values I’ve tried to espouse in my family and in my employees. I think our clients appreciate the fact that the Metro Offices team tries to extend ourselves to others in a variety of ways.”
Kathlene and Metro Offices regularly support a number of non-profits. Among them is Autism Speaks (watch the video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E15Dv1wkxVM).
As part of the Brava! Awards, suit donations were accepted on behalf of Suited for Change, a non-profit that provides professional attire to low-income women who want to improve their employment opportunities.
