TELEWORK WEEK
MARCH 4-8, 2013
It’s that time of year again! With the third annual Telework Week 2013 just around the corner, it’s time to start making your plans to telework. The purpose of Telework Week is to encourage federal agencies and local and state governments to be more proactive with teleworking. This week showcases the amazing benefits of telework and how it can help improve the continuity of your business.
According to the Telework Exchange, telework is a “win-win opportunity for agencies, organizations, employees, and the environment, because telework supports:
- Business continuity
- Improved productivity
- Real estate savings
- Personnel recruitment and retention
- Work/life balance and commuter cost savings
- Reduction of traffic, greenhouse gas emissions, and wear and tear on public transportation
- Meeting legislative mandates, including the Telework Enhancement Act of 2010”
Stats from last year:
- 71,000+ pledges for telework
- $5,651,890 saved on commuting costs
- 251,774 work hours saved
- 3,453 tons of pollutants not added to the atmosphere
"Telework Week is an excellent opportunity for thousands of people to try teleworking and realize the great benefits it can provide. A robust telework program can help organizations improve the quality of life of their employees, while also taking strides to protect the environment, reduce traffic congestion on the roads, and increase workplace efficiency."
