So you regularly work from your office space in Arlington, VA. But the summer is here, and now you are looking for some great activities to enjoy the longer daylight hours. Where can you go that is close to where you work and live?
Virginia Theme Parks
Busch Gardens has been voted The World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park and has a European flair that lets you experience the world without ever leaving the country. Take a ride on the Mach Tower which is 245 feet tall and offers spectacular views of the park!
Kings Dominion is a theme and water park, with 15 world-class roller coasters. Not for the faint of heart. Their new attraction for 2012 is the Windseeker, a 301 foot swing that gives its riders aerial views of Central Virginia….at 35 mph.
Chincoteague Pony Swim
For something a bit unique, head out for the Chincoteague Pony Swim the last Wednesday in July. Volunteer firemen round up all the wild ponies on Assateague Island (Virginia’s Eastern Shore) and swim them across the channel to Chincoteague Island. From there they will be herded down Main Street to the carnival where an auction is held to sell off the foals born this year. The carnival takes place the last Thursday in July, from 8am to noon.
Richmond Jazz Festival
This festival will be the third annual one, held August 10-12. A mix of soul, smooth and brassy jazz, this festival draws local, national and international artists. Come be a part of a great music festival packed into one exciting summer weekend! Click here for a chance to win VIP tickets.
