3 Books Every Entrepreneur Should Read

Written by Metro Admin | 12/09/2011

As an entrepreneur, you are accountable for your own personal development. Success is based upon many different factors, but I think we can agree that the ability to be willing to learn, evolve, and embrace new ideals are important facets to maintaining a successful business. One of the best ways to keep encouraging growth as a business owner is to read. And you also want to make sure that what you are reading is relevant and adds value to your life and business. Here are three books that come highly recommended that I suggest you add to your queue:

Who: The A Method for Hiring, by Geoff Smart and Randy Street
Remember last week’s post when we talked about making smart hiring decisions? Clearly this is a crucial concept for any entrepreneur  to grasp. The book addresses the valuable time lost when you make a hiring mistake and then have to spend resources reversing your decision in the future. The book lays out a 4-step process for making smarter hiring decisions.

Start With Why, by Simon Sinek
Giving your employees a true reason to come to work, and more than just to get a paycheck, is the difference between workers who do the minimum, and those who are fully committed and give their all. This is also true for the product or service you sell. You need to give your customers a way to connect with your company on more than just the business level. This book shows you how to shape your company’s mission that will attract and retain the right talent and clients.

Little Bets, by Peter Sims
This book challenges the wannabe entrepreneur lurking inside of you. Many times, people hesitate in taking action with their business idea for fear that it isn’t big enough or life changing. This book addresses the fact that sometimes it’s when you take a step forward with that small idea that great success can then manifest itself.

Have any of you read these books? We would love to hear your thoughts about these or others that have helped you!
